One of the most important parts of hygiene is skin care. Skin is our largest organ and it is our protecting layer. It is important to start good habits now to protect our skin because we only get one body. Here are the steps I take when washing my face and body every day at a relatively low price.
The first thing I do in the morning when I wake up is wash my face. I use the Clean and Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser to start my day. It is infused with Vitamin C and Ginseng to help wake you up. After that I pat my face dry with a towel (no rubbing allowed!). Then I head back into my room and put on a light moisturizer. My favorite at the moment is by Ponds and comes in a bottle like this.

Now for the night time routine. At night I use more products because the skin needs a deeper clean after being exposed to all of the elements of the world and wearing makeup. I start off by cleansing my face with the Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser. It is very gentle, does not irritate my eyes or skin and does a great job at removing my makeup. After that I take a cotton pad soaked in Simple Toner and wipe it on my face to help restore pH balance and get rid of any residue left.
A few days a week I like to exfoliate my face. I do this to help promote skin growth and get rid of any dead flakes. I use an exfoliating mitt (example below), easily found at any beauty supply store. I put a nickel size amount of the Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub onto the mit and cleanse my face using circular motions.

After my face is in its original, makeup free state it’s time for moisturizer. This is the one part of the routine where I do use products that are a bit more expensive. I think it is important to have a quality moisturizer, especially if you have dry skin like myself. One of my current favorites is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It is highly versatile and has been tested to work against sensitive skin and eczema. After that I take the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye and use a very small amount on my ring finger to dab along and under my eyes. A little goes a long way and although I am still very young, preventative measure against wrinkles must start now!
There is not a lot of steps or products in my skin care routine, but it does work. I did not mention any acne fighting products because it is not something I struggle with. However if you do have consistent problems with blemishes and breakouts and nothing seems to work, I do recommend visiting a dermatologist.
If you try any of these products let me know what you think! I hope it is helpful for everyone. Skin care is very personal and everyone is unique, so don’t take it personally if not all products work for your skin.
